As dentists, we work alone. No one tells us our mistakes or points out where things went wrong. The only way you can improve your clinical skills is by recording the pre and post-op pictures of the patient's teeth.
And the phone is not the right device to take pictures. Because the phone's camera will give different outputs under slight variations in angulation and lighting, it is best to use a DSLR with a ring flash light.
For eg. you gave the patient a veneer on the left upper central incisor which the patient wholeheartedly accepted. But only after a few years if you go back to this case, where you have recorded the results by clicking a good picture, you will come to know, how the line angles could have been different, the tooth after the veneer looks squarish as compared to the right central. The reflection of light is all over the place, there is a slight buccal bulge which looks bad to the now more experienced clinician in you.
This is how you keep improving your clinical skills by constantly rechecking your work. Dentistry is a lonely field and the only one rooting for you to win this blind unending race is you!
