Take a walk

When you are starting a new practice, the most important factor that will contribute to it's success is the location. The location of your new clinic will determine the kind of patients that will walk in to your clinic.

So when scouting for the location, make sure you take a walk around the neighbourhood before you finalise the premises and sign on that dotted line. When you walk on your legs, at a slow pace you will notice things that you will easily miss when you are sitting in your car.

It will also help to may be work in a clinic nearby for a few months before starting your own practice there in the same locality. Not only will it give you a first hand information about the kind of patients that come in for dental treatment but also their paying capacity, the kinds of treatments they are seeking in general and do they primarily belong to the service class or are they businessowners.

So take a walk with a sword in your hand my fellow Gladiators, because this will save you from a lot of trouble.
